Navy blue, hard sided, suitcase. Hard, leather handle with multiple airline tags attached. Hand painted gold and orange stripe across sides and top, name in white ‘A. Knott, MCC Tour’. Adhesive transport labels on exterior, including Globe Transport Limited shipping label to Bombay. Maker’s mark on exterior and interior. Two, cloth straps inside.

The Alan Knott collection (1968-2000) spans huge changes in cricketing tours and equipment. The suitcase on display was used by Knott from his first tour to West Indies in 1968 until 1976-7; at that point the MCC name, painted on by his father, had to be changed to England.
