Victorian, Large, grey/brown emu’s egg, cup and cover, mounted on a silver stand, shaped like a palm tree, with a foliage decorated base. Silver edging band around top of egg with bird mounted at apex. Inscribed on base ‘S & P to WB Melbourne 1862’. Initially the first set of letters were described as ‘JT’ possibly due to the name of the donator, but appear to be S &P Presented to Mr W Burrup who helped to manage the 1862 tour, by Mr Christopher Pond of Spiers and Pond, who ran the Café de Paris and were responsible for bringing the All England Eleven to Australia.
