Cap of the British Army Association 1914
Red flannel, lined, with hook and eye. Badge: three lions passant guardant embroidered in gilt thread. Label: Extra quality; A.J. White/Hatter to the Royal Family/(crest) /63 & 74/Jermyn Stt./St. James's;/Rear St. James's Street.
This cap was designed by Captain T W Sheppard ( afterwards Lt Colonel T W Sheppard Graham), the King’s Regiment, to whom H M King George V signified that it was his wish that it should be worn by teams representing the Army. The cap was worn by the Army eleven v the Royal Navy at Lord’s in 1914, but was never seen again. Its design was identical with that of the cap of the Hawstone Otter Hounds. Presented by Rt. Rev D S Sheppard, great-nephew of the designer, 1959.
