Mead (Hampshire) Since 1906 Mead has obtained over 1,000 runs each season prior to and since the War, for Hampshire, his best year being 1921, when he scored 3,179, and he was the first left-hander to exceed W. G. Grace's total of 126 centuries. Toured Australia twice. Has scored 182 not out v. Australia-the highest ever made by an English batsman in the series in England. He has scored a century against every other county and made two separate centuries in a match three times."
