Beschrijving
Pair (2) of gauntlet style gloves. Tan brown, leather trank. Leather fourchette. Padded roll to all digits (double on thumb), purlicue and wrist, white at joints. Quirk and leather palm with large round hole. Vertical, cane bolsters in cuff with side vent and mid-brown piping.
The history of cricket equipment is characterised by frequent experimentation. These gloves are shaped like wicket-keeper’s gauntlets of the late 19th century, but feature the rubber protection to the back of the fingers typical of batting gloves and no protection to the palm of the hand. They may have been wicket-keeping gauntlets modified into batting gloves, or possibly created to bespoke requirements.
