Large, white, Falcon ware mug, with angular, strap handle. Black and white transfer print decoration, image of Verity bowling on one side ‘Hedley Verity England’s famous spin bowler’. England and Australia Test record on reverse. Makers’ marks on base.
Hedley Verity’s test records against Australia are printed on the reverse and read: 'England and Australian test Records
Batting I-5 R-114 HS-45 NO-1 AVE-28.50. Bowling O-135 M-54 R-271 W-11 AVE-24.63. The mug has been dated to 1936 but given Verity’s performance at Lord’s in 1934, the statistics would certainly be incorrect.
