Woodworm Premier™ bat with black rubber handle. Plastic adhesive logos on front and reverse, featuring a large red worm with open mouth and pointed teeth. Upper part of blade has a distinctive curved portion. Used by Andrew Flintoff, to score 142 during England v South Africa, Lord's, 2003. Large split through length caused when Flintoff hit a six. (check this, latest information states he was caught)

Until the 1990s bats were generally made of treated willow, seeking durability as much as anything else. The latest innovation was aimed at more powerful hitting that meant the ball travelled further. This seemed to be achieved by longer contact between ball and bat which was achieved by a `softer’ blade. However this made bats easier to break and a batsman now carries as many as 6 bats in his bag. This bat was split by Andrew Flintoff v South Africa at Lord's in 2003 when hitting a 6.
