Beschrijving
Pair of boots with white, napped leather uppers. Leather soles and lining. Tongues lined with canvas. Laced with seven enamelled metal eyelets and three enamelled metal hooks. Evidence of three studs in the heel and a line of studs around outer edge of sole.
Cricket boots were developed from everyday footwear of the 19th century. Made of hard-wearing leather with white buckskin uppers, such boots were durable and could be repaired many times during their lifetime. Lighter versions of this kind of footwear remained in use until fairly recently, with bowlers such as Courtney Walsh continuing to have their bowling boots made by traditional bespoke methods.
