Engraved: salver: lion and kangaroo on either side of a wicket, surrounded by autographs. ashtrays: same central motif as salver (no autographs); Inscribed on rim: 1861-1961/England - Australia. Plaque at foot is inscribed: This salver was presented to the Marylebone Cricket/CLub by the Express Dairy Company to commemorate the/Centenary of the visit of the first English Touring Side/to Australia in 1861. The visit was sponsored by /Mr.Felix Spiers and Mr. Christopher Pond, Founders/of the firm of Spiers & Pond Limited, now a/member of the Express Dairy Group.
