This triangular bat, turned from a single piece of wood, was patented in 1887 by John Browning to improve performance and ‘insure strict practice’. It was advertised in the 1894 Wisden Almanack, and endorsed by Australian captain, Percy McDonnell. However, it was not a commercial success.
