Spliced, twined handle. Straight blade with indistinct swell. Toe worn inner edge. Significant historic repair. Maker’s marks stamped on head of handle and toe.
The Hon. G.F.B. Ponsonby was one of the joint founders of the I Zingari claub, 1845. This bat is attributed to him.
This bat is thought to have been used by Ponsonby. one of the three founders of the I Zingari club. A transitional rounded/ humped back blade, with a slightly convex face and spliced, unsprung handle. made by Cobbet.
