Description
Doulton Lambeth, stoneware jug. Gently swollen form. Caramel glaze with Art Nouveau style floral decoration. Ribbed bands around base. Three, white sprigged images of cricketers based on the photographs of E. Hawkins and Co. of S M J Woods (bowler), M C Kemp (wicket keeper) and William Gunn (batsman); published in 'Famous Cricketers and Cricket Grounds 1885'. Ribbed strap handle. Maker’s marks on base: Doulton Lambeth England in lozenge shape and various artist’s marks, including ‘P B’
