Description
Glazed, earthenware, Staffordshire pottery figure of a batsman. Holding a yellow paddle-shaped bat, wearing light blue shirt with red spots, orange sash and cap with green peak. Plain, flat back.
Parr, of Nottinghamshire, and Caesar, of Surrey were two of the stars of the All England XI which toured the country playing against local teams in the mid-19th century. Their nationwide fame led to the mass-production of memorabilia such as these figures.
