Pastel on paper
Middlesex and England all-rounder Albert Trott shown bowling. Trott played Test cricket for both England and his native Australia, moving to London after being left out of an Australian side captained by his brother Harry. He is best remembered as the only man ever to have hit a ball over the Lord’s Pavilion, a feat he achieved while playing for MCC against the touring Australians in 1899.
Sketched by English artist Albert Chevallier Tayler for The Empire's Cricketers publication of 1905.
Issued in twelve parts, each publication contained four lithographic portraits published for the Fine Art Society by Dawbarn and Ward.
