Willow bat with treble-sprung handle and humped back. Stamped twice with ‘Gray-Nicholls’ and once with ‘Melbourne International Exhibition’ logos. Signed by various players and inscription from Frank Worrell.
Used to make 1,640 runs during the Commonwealth tour of India, 1949 - 50

Sir Frank Worrell was the first black captain to lead the West Indies team, uniting the island countries and bringing them to the top of the game.
This bat was used by Worrell at the height of his career to make 1,640 runs during the Commonwealth tour of India in 1949-50. Then in 1950 he topped the Test batting averages with 539 runs at an average of 89.83.
Worrell enjoyed a supreme partnership with Garfield Sobers, who he groomed for captaincy. He is remembered as a graceful batsman, prolific coach and cultural influencer.
