Black painted, wooden, double-sided picture easel. Maker’s plaque on lip of support, one side only. Screw fixing for top of picture. Spring lever bolt to alter height. On castors, probably not original.
Description: Victorian Oak Double Sided Studio Easel by the prestigious maker Charles Roberson of Long Acre and Piccadilly London.
Fully adjustable with 12 ratchet settings.

Well used but in excellent condition. Casters replaced at some time in its life to allow more freedom of movement.
This makes a wonderful display easel as will be seen from the photographs.
It is in untouched condition but could easily be cleaned and polished for show.
Roberson started business in London in 1810 and was one of the most important colourmen in London. His clients included artists such as Turner, Whistler and Sargent as well as designers William Morris, William de Morgan and the famous including Queen Victoria and Winston Churchill.
