Set of stumps and bails in a presentation case; with original box that has inscribed plaques. Marylebone Cricket Club team to Australia 1924. Set of stumps and bails made from Capstan Bar and Deck of H.M.A.S. Australia, 1924. Ash, in case of teak with the tips and spikes of the stumps silver, some lion-stamped. Set out in a special showcase, their own showcase being displayed on top. On the side of the case are (1) a silver plaque inscribed: A souvenir from H.M.A.S. Australia/sunk 12th April 1924./ Stumps made of ash (from a capstan bar)/ Case made of teak (from portion of deck)./ By kind permission of Hon. E.K. Bowden, M.P. (Minister of Defence)/ Presented to M.C.C. Team/visiting Australia 1924-5/ Anthony Hordern & Sons Ltd./ Sydney, New South Wales. (2) A silver map of Australia (giving states and capitals) on which are inscribed the names of the M.C.C. team and manager.
