Bat, owner unknown, from the collection of the 4th Duke of Buccleuch (1772-1816). Made by Mason.
Stamped on top of handle: Mason, Paddington. Stamped on bottom of blade: M[as]on.
Length - overall: 36 5/8 in; blade to binding: 24 in. Weight: 3 lb. 12 1/2 oz.
Humped back with ridge 'flaring' to flat base. Very thick blade - minimum width at sides, 1 inch, with angled edges. Sloped, asymetrical shoulders with handle slightly angled. Unspliced handle.
