Staffordshire tobacco jar and lid. Cylindrical form. Blue body with two, white, sprigged figures, Pilch and Lillywhite, but with differences to the normal poses seen on other objects. Commonly held that the figures are based on aquatints by C Hunt published 1841. Transfer printed design ‘tobacco’ in scroll, with foliage and butterfly.
