- Felix was of Flemish decent, born Nicholas Wanostrocht. He was an artist and sportsman. He played form Kent in the 1830s and appeared many times for Gentlemen against Players. He was also a talented musician, and as author published an instructional work, Felix on the Bat. In addition to this he designed a primitive bowling machine for use in schools and pioneered tubular indian-rubber batting gloves.
