- Historia del archivoGerald Malcolm David Howat was born on 12 June 1928 in Glasgow. He was educated at Glenalmond, and at Edinburgh and Oxford Universities. He married Anne Murdoch in 1951 and had two sons and one daughter. He taught at Trinidad Leaseholds School in the West Indies; at Kelly College, Tavistock; and then in Oxfordshire, at Culham College, Radley and Lord William’s Thame. Also, he was general editor of the historical division of Pergamon Press. Howat’s major passion was cricket; he served Moreton cricket club for over 40 years and became the biographer of Learie Constantine, Pelham Warner, Wally Hammond and Len Hutton. Howat served on the MCC Arts and Library Sub-Committee and was chair of the Publishing Working Party, also covering cricket matches as a reporter for The Cricketer and The Telegraph. The records largely relate to information used to write some of Howat’s biographies, such as Len Hutton and Pelham Warner, and correspondence sent to them is included in this collection, as well as articles on American cricket and documents relating to Jack Parsons.
