File contains clippings of column “Gloucester by day” from newspaper “Gloucester Citizen” (9 June 1955, 13 June 1955, 15 June 1955, 18 June 1955, 26 June 1955), article “Air, light and water along the Severn” from magazine Country Life 14 July 1955 and an article from "The Times" newspaper containing a picture of Berkeley Castle (4 February 1956). Subjects include correspondence between the Curator, Rob G Berkley, The Reverend G V Blois (Fretherne Refectory) and Geoffrey Grigson relating to identification of the location of the cricket match depicted in the painting “An XI of England vs. XX Gentlemen of Gloucestershire, 1831” which appears in the book “The noble game of cricket” (page 201) by Sir Jeremiah Colman.
