Ambassador's Competition Cup, (The John Hay Whitney Cup), 1911 and 1958. Silver cup in own showcase, plinth of wood and silver, with tablet. Hallmarked Sheffield, (F & S crown lion passant, Gothic "t"). Makers: Fattorini & Sons, Bradford. Makers of case: Edmonds/Museum Fitters/Birmingham/London. Design: urn-shaped with foot, wide mouth (no lid), two handles; plinth: drum-shaped. Cup engraved on one side: The Ambassador's Cup/Anglo-American Cricket/First played in 1897. Engraved on reverse: 24th August 1958/Lord's Taverners v American Amateurs. Inscribed on plinth: 1958 American Amateurs: 1959 Lord's Taverners.
