This cap was bought at an auction held during the Benefit Year of the Middlesex CCC cricketer David Nash.
The curtain came down on Dickie Bird's Test Match umpiring career in the England v India Test at Lord's in 1996. His final wicket decision was adjudging Jack Russell out lbw from the bowling of Sourav Ganguly.
