Wills World Cup Ball, 1996
Signed by eight of the team captains who played in the World Cup tournament in Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka, 1996, including Pakistan’s Wasim Akram. Wasim Akram burst onto the scene taking ten wickets in only his second Test match, aged just eighteen. He learned the art of reverse swing from Imran and worked on his advice, practising in the nets using balls forty to fifty overs old. Imran also persuaded him to spend the summer of 1986 playing for Burnopfield in County Durham, learning how to take wickets in English conditions. He soon became one of the most formidable bowlers in the world, on all sorts of pitches. Australian Steve Waugh considered him ‘the most dangerous bowler in the world.’
