Right hand, armoured, batting glove. Cream, woven cloth trank and fourchettes. Green, rubber spiked strips on each digit. Attached with twine. Maker’s label inside. Signed and inscription

Right hand batting glove believed to have been worn by Jack Hobbs whilst making his 197th century (and last first class century) for Surrey V Lancashire at Old Trafford in May 1934….The gloves is sold with a letter from RH Hobbs stating that Hobbs on completing his innings (and 197th century) threw the glove to AC Hobbs, a member of Lancashire CCC and RH Hobbs Grandfather. ‘my Grandfather, I understand, said to Jack Hobbs, no one will believe it was his unless he signed it. Which he duly obliged’ The letter signed by RH Hobbs and dated 15/13/2003. £400/600
