Marble clock of W.G. Grace, presented at the Over 30s v under 30s at Lord's 1879. Black, enammelled blue and gilt. Design: an Egyptian 'monument' surmountd by a sphynx; two smaller winged sphynxes at the sides; decorated with incised Egyptian motifs and two swags. Inscribed: Presented to W. G. Grace/on July 22nd 1879/on the occasion of the match over 30 v under 30/ played in his honour at Lord's. Stamped: Chas Frodsham & Co./ to the Queen/84 Strand/19125.
