Description
Gourd, hide-clad; hair side out, russet brown. Design: covering the top and cupping the base are two shaped pieces of hide joined by twisted thongs of the same (whose underside thus revealed produce a lighter tone). At the top, on one side, are two loops to which are attached a carrying cord.
An African buckskin drum was sold at auction in 1987, but no further information is given in catalogue, so it is unknown if it was this object or another.
