Bat of R. E. Foster, 1983
Made by Stuart Surridge
Donated by Mrs J Wilkinson
R.E.Foster was part of Sir Pelham Warner’s side that toured Australia for the first time under the auspices of MCC. He wrote a diary of the tour that included his record breaking innings of 287 at Sydney, scored with this bat. This record, for the highest innings on Test debut, still stands today, over a century later
