Preparatory full length portrait sketch of former MCC
President Viscount Lewisham wearing a top hat and a
carnation in his left lapel depicted by artist Walter Wilson.
A batsman Viscount Lewisham often took part in MCC
matches, and captained the House of Commons XI. He
was a Conservative MP from 1878 to 1891 when he
succeeded to the earldom. He was Governor of I Zingari
and for 40 years President of the Staffordshire County
Club.
