David Sheppard made his Test debut for England in 1950. His cricket career continued into the 1960s but was frequently interrupted by his duties as an ordained minister in the Church of England. In 1968 he was a prominent member of a group of M.C.C. Members which objected to the Club’s handling of the D’Oliveira affair.
