Portrait of former England, Hampshire and MCC
cricketer Edward George Wynyard depicted batting at
the crease wearing I Zingari cap drawn by British
portraitist Chevallier Tayler, known for his plein air
methods of the Newlyn School, which perfectly fitted with
depicting cricket outdoors.
Wynyard was MCC Committee member between 1920
and 1924. He captained the MCC tour to New Zealand
1906 – 1907 and Hampshire county cricket club between
1878 and 1908. He was also part of the Old Carthisans
team that won the FA Cup Final in 1881.
