Harold Larwood was the spearhead of England’s pace attack during the “Bodyline” series. One of the fastest bowlers ever produced by England, his ability to combine extreme pace with deadly accuracy made him the ideal weapon in Jardine’s plan to bowl a consistent leg-stump line at Australia’s batsmen. Had it not been for Larwood’s skill, discipline and endurance “Bodyline” might well have been a short-lived experiment rather than the most controversial strategy in the history of cricket.
