Description
Red leather ‘treble and double’ ball. Commissioned, in small quantity, as an experiment, to see whether the quartering would improve the playing qualities of the ball. Made in four segments, two pairs first closed internally then sewn externally with double rows of stitching, the resulting halves then closed externally with treble rows, the internal seams being diametrically opposed. Stamped: A. Reader & Co./Teston Kent/Estd. 1808.
