Biography on reverse reads: "Hedley Verity (Yorkshire) One of Yorkshire's brightest stars, who has come to the front with remarkable rapidity since making his debut in 1930. He was born in Leeds on May 18th, 1905, and is a tall, left arm, slow-to-medium bowler. Two brilliant perofrmances stand to his credit. In 1931 he took ten Warwickshire wickets for 36, and in 1932 he took ten Notts wickets for ten! In 1931 (his second full season of first-class cricket) he took 188 wickets. Verity has already had a Taste cricket, for he playe dagainst New Zealand when they visited England in 1931."
