He was married twice, firstly to Jean and then Stephanie, and had three children; Dawn, Mark and Tandy. He was educated at William Ellis Grammar School. Titmus wrote to Lord's at age sixteen asking for a trial (see MCC/SEC/3/50/1). He made his first-class debut for Middlesex vs. Somerset at Bath in 1949 and went on to play first-class cricket for 43 years, making his last appearance for the same county vs. Surrey at Lord's in 1982. Titmus made his Test debut for England vs. South Africa in 1955 and played in 53 Tests and 2 One-Day Internationals for England. The material in this collection was acquired at auction and covers aspects of Titmus's playing and coaching career, in particular from 1950 to 1978.
