NICK BOTTING
British artist Nick Botting was commissioned by MCC in 2000 to document the England tour to Pakistan, covering the first Test at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Traditionally a painter of modern life Botting is known for painting ‘en plein air’, a French term meaning ‘in the open air’ which primarily describes the act of painting outdoors, championed by the Impressionists. Botting paints exclusively in this style and has travelled the world documenting contemporary life, recording the way people interact with landscapes. His sketchy painterly style perfectly suits the subject of cricket grounds, in this case capturing the atmosphere of two in Lahore. There are further examples of Nick’s work in the MCC Collections)
