Cigarette card depicting a black and white photographic half-length portrait of George Brown putting on batting gloves. He is wearing cricket whites and England home cap with three lions crest on the front. Series No.28.
Biography on reverse reads: "Brown, G., Hampshire. Born 1887; has played for Hampshire since 1909. Member of the English Team, Test Matches 1921, Manchester, Leeds, and The Oval. With M.C.C. in S. Africa 1922-3. A brilliant all-rounder; originally played as fast bowler; developed as a fast scoring bat and wicket-keeper; exceptionally fine fielder a mid-off. Most successful season 1920, scoring 1,889, including six centuries. Highest score-232 not out, Hampshire v. Yorks, 1920."
