Biography on reverse reads: "George Oswald Browning Allen, Middlesex. - Known as "Gubby." Fast bowler and hard-hitting batsman. Born Sydney, Australia, July 31, 1902. Took all 10 Lancs. wickets for 40, 1929. Has played v. Australia, New Zealand and captained England v. India this summer."
