Postcard depicting a black and white photographic portrait of Wilfred Payton taking guard at the wicket. He is wearing cricket whites, pads, possibly an early Notttinghamshire cap with NCC crest on the front, pads and rubber batting glove. Stand with scoreboard in background, located at Trent Bridge.
Message on reverse states: "Dear [?] Dorman, I must thank you very much for the present you sent me, and apologise for not doing so before I was sorry I did not see ou on Monday after and passed you early. Have been to the Notts v Yorkshire match this afternoon very slow cricket. Yorks 179 Notts 85 for 3. Hardstaff not 35, Payton not 10. Your Godson Arthur."
